Brunch and yogurt in La Jolla – Coffee Cup and Yogi Topi

For BFF’s birthday, we actually stayed in La Jolla – so we’d be close to the beach.  We slept in a bit on Saturday and then headed to Coffee Cup Cafe for brunch.  I had fresh squeezed orange juice, which was pricey (to be expected for the effort), was tasty as expected.  Then the french toast came, and that was very nice.  I’d expected more blueberry puree than was actually there; I thought there would actually be a decent amount of it on top of the toast instead of three little swirls around the plate.  I wanted more!  The eggs and bacon for $3 extra was a good deal for Cali – and tasty. The service wasn’t awesome but was tolerable. We all left satisfied.

After a few hours at the beach (very windy but lovely), we stopped by Yogi Topi on our way back to the condo.  We were pleased to try our second independent fro yo place of the weekend, and I was delighted to find that Cap’n Crunch was a topping option.  It was perfect with the peanut butter and cake batter yogurts I had, both of which were incredible.  That said, these flavors weren’t tart like what I’d had the night before; they were more akin to TCBY style.  My BFF had tart and peanut butter, and she said the tart was perfect.  This was her favorite fro yo stop of the weekend.
