Dinner at The Big Easy

My husband, two friends, and I went to dinner at The Big Easy in downtown Raleigh on Friday night.  It’s been a while since I’ve written about a Raleigh restaurant, so here ya go.

The location is fun – right on Fayetteville.  Frankly, the place is worth visiting just to get an Abita Amber on tap.  That’s one of my very favorite beers – and it’s much better on tap than in a bottle (though still absolutely worth drinking).  The guys got A Taste of Louisiana – jambalaya, gumbo, and red beans and rice.  Jason said my mom’s versions of those dishes are better, but they were still good.  They enjoyed it – especially the alligator.  My girl friend got seafood gumbo and liked that.  I’m not a huge fan of Cajun food, so I went for the strip steak with bleu cheese.  It was cooked well, and the mashed potatoes were pretty good.  Then each couple got a brownie with ice cream – delish.  We all agreed that we’d like to go again.  And next time it’ll be our turn to use a Restaurant.com coupon.  We also want to check out the Oxford Gastropub.
