World Beer Fest – fall 2008

I’m much belated in sharing the deets of the beer fest, but here goes.  I went to the daytime session in Durham in early October with my friend R and R’s friend J.  Luckily J was pretty easy to get along with, and we all had a blast.  I remembered my tips and planned pretty well.  I ate Bojangles beforehand, drank lots of water, didn’t bother to finish bad beer, and usually didn’t waste my time drinking beer with which I am already familiar.  We were there for a solid 4 hours, and I think it’s fair to say that R felt it after about an hour, J felt it after a couple of hours, and I only ended up the slightest bit tipsy for about the last 20 minutes.  🙂  (I prepped better than they did, was probably drinking beer a bit more often in advance of the fest, and was more willing to not drink the whole 2-4 ounces we were usually given.  I also have a weirdly high tolerance for my size.)  Here’s what we had.  I’ll italicize the ones I noted liking.

Huh.  No wonder we all ended up feeling the alcohol by the end.  LOL  Even at 1 ounce per sampling, that’s about 11 bottles of beer.  I’m not sure if I’m up for the spring WBF in Raleigh, but it was definitely fun and something I’d recommend to people who like beer.
