Butch’s BBQ and Breakfast
1234 Burkemont Ave
Morganton, NC

On our way back to the Triangle from visiting family in Asheville for the weekend, we happened upon Butch’s in Morganton.  Since my husband is the barbeque person, I asked him to write about it for y’all:

On our way out to the mountains, we stopped for lunch at a place called Butch’s BBQ and Breakfast.  It’s a small (3 store) chain in the Piedmont.  As we pulled into the parking lot, I noticed the huge smoker/portable barbeque pit, which was a good sign.
We went in, and the place was definitely a family restaraunt for locals.  The menu is pretty standard for a barbeque joint.  I tried the pulled pork sandwich.  The pork was pretty good, although a little dry.  However, with a generous application of the house sauces, the meal was quite good.  The yeast-roll bun was an excellent choice for a base.  My dear wife had a chicken finger sandwich, and I believe she enjoyed it.  Overall, I’d give the place a 4 out of 5.  It was reasonably priced for the amount of food, and we both enjoyed it.  I couldn’t ask for much more than that, except for them to wipe down the restaraunt with a wet rag.  It’s sticky.  Everywhere.
It’s not my favorite BBQ joint (Danny’s), but it’ll do.

One of my favorite things about the place was their slogan: “You need no teeth to eat our meat!”
