News: US Air says no more free snacks

Beginning June 1, US Air will stop offering free snacks on its domestic flights.  This is the latest in the airline industry’s attempts to combat rising costs while keeping fares as low as possible.  Read more from the Charlotte Business Journal.

    I really do not understand why airlines are doing this. I really would not notice or care if they charged me $5 more for my flight and gave me a soda and snack included in that price. When airlines announce this it just highlights the fact that they do not care about customer comfort.

    As a quasi-response to the comment above, the snacks themselves cost the airline nothing. The workers who distribute them are more expensive. Does this mean fewer stewards on the larger flights?
