TTT: Become a tourist in your hometown

My travel tip this Tuesday is to become a tourist in your hometown.  If you can stand it, take a day off from work.  Go to that antique shop, museum, or art gallery you’ve always meant to visit but just haven’t found the time.  Have lunch in that cute little cafe you’ve been meaning to try.  Get chocolates from your local chocolatier.  Stroll the streets – even take pictures!

Be informed about what’s going on in your town so you don’t miss out on something cool.  Did you know that the NC Ren Faire was at the NC State Fairgrounds the past 3 weekends?  There were amazing corn dogs and some nice beer from the French Broad Brewing Co. in Tir Na Nog‘s tent.  Do you know about First Friday?  Have you been to a Durham Bulls or Carolina Hurricanes game?  Have you taken in a concert or movie in the amphitheater at the NC Art Museum?  Have you attended the Great Grapes wine festival or the World Beer Festival?  Have you gone swimming or boating at Jordan Lake or hiking on the American Tobacco Trail?  If you’re not in the Triangle, I’m sure there are lots of great things in your area too – get searching!
