PSA re tanning

May 22, 2008

A lot of travelers, myself included, at least consider doing some sort of pre-travel tanning.  FutureDerm has a neat little article debunking some of the myths about tanning.  The most interesting part to me:

According to a 2007 study published in Germany (and cited in Allure), for 24 hours after applying a self-tanner, the skin is more susceptible to free-radical damage once being exposed to the sun.

P.S. You don’t REALLY want a real tan anyway – your skin may well look like old leather if you tan too much.  YUCK!
