TTT: Hold your mail

My travel tip this Tuesday is to figure out what to do about your mail before you leave. If someone is checking on your cats, you might have them retrieve it from the mailbox each day. In the alternative, ask the US Postal Service to hold it. The USPS website now makes that easier than ever. Under the “Receiving Mail” portion on the home page, you’ll see a link to “Hold Mail.” Type in your zip code, fill in your info, verify your address, and select the dates you’ll be gone. You can either have the post office deliver everything upon your return or pick it up. You’ll have to pick a start date within the next two weeks, but they’ll hold service for up to a month. How nice!

Bonus tip: Don’t forget to set up your work email and voice mail with out of office messages.
