It’s a cemetery. Read on at the NY Times…

Check out my post about Stonehenge here.
Beginning June 1, US Air will stop offering free snacks on its domestic flights. This is the latest in the airline industry’s attempts to combat rising costs while keeping fares as low as possible. Read more from the Charlotte Business Journal.

In honor of the SATC movie premiere last night, I thought I’d point out that there is a SATC tour in NYC. Yes, that’s right – you can hop on a bus and trace the paths frequented by Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha. On Location Tours has a SATC bus tour hitting more than 40 locations. It’s about 3.5 hours for $40 per person ($2 transaction fee). If you’d rather DIY, check out Rebecca’s tips on this AskANewYorker post.
Have $24K lying around? You probably don’t anymore if you were part of the ultimate SATC tour, which culminated with attending the premiere last night!

AW: I’ve “met” Miranda and Samantha. I know you’re jealous.
My travel tip this Tuesday is for female travelers – check out Journeywoman! It’s an online travel resource just for women. Journeywoman suggests guides she and other Journeywomen have used around the world; she talks about shopping; she provides general travel tips; she offers advice about where to eat; and, my personal favorite, she provides information about what to wear. Check it out!
St. Thomas is one of the U.S. Virgin Islands and also one of the most popular stops for cruise ships. We’ve called upon St. Thomas twice. On our first visit, we set off for St. John (next Destination post!). On our second visit, we stayed on St. Thomas. We still have so much more to see and do on both islands!
A lot of travelers, myself included, at least consider doing some sort of pre-travel tanning. FutureDerm has a neat little article debunking some of the myths about tanning. The most interesting part to me:
P.S. You don’t REALLY want a real tan anyway – your skin may well look like old leather if you tan too much. YUCK!

Yeah, that’s right. American is going to start charging $15 for your FIRST checked bag. They’re also retiring 45-50 planes and cutting capacity on domestic flights by up to 12%. American says this is due to rising fuel costs. Read the full story on CNN.
I completely understand having to compensate for rising fuel costs, but I’m bummed – that’s going to mean signficant fare increases due to much more limited availability. American has been one of my favorite airlines… now I’m worried about them.
My travel tip this Tuesday is to figure out what to do about your mail before you leave. If someone is checking on your cats, you might have them retrieve it from the mailbox each day. In the alternative, ask the US Postal Service to hold it. The USPS website now makes that easier than ever. Under the “Receiving Mail” portion on the home page, you’ll see a link to “Hold Mail.” Type in your zip code, fill in your info, verify your address, and select the dates you’ll be gone. You can either have the post office deliver everything upon your return or pick it up. You’ll have to pick a start date within the next two weeks, but they’ll hold service for up to a month. How nice!
Better late than never, eh? This Destination “Friday” is about Nassau, a popular town in the Bahamas for all types of travellers.
I have been in shock over the past week and a half regarding first the destruction in Myanmar and then the horrors in China. Please keep both the natives and visitors to these places in your thoughts and prayers.
