Dinner and a show: Humble Pie & HSM

On Friday night, I got to do dinner and a show with one of my BFFs.  I got tickets to High School MUsical as her Christmas present.  It was so tough keeping the secret from her!  Anyway, we had a blast.

TTT: Coming soon – passport cards!

Hope you’re all planning to celebrate Mardi Gras today by eating some king cake!  I hope I’ll find some today, though I’m about junk fooded out from this past weekend (more about that later).  My travel tip for you today is to get a passport card.

Beginning February 1, 2008 (that’s this past Friday, folks!), US citizens may begin applying for the new US Passport Card.  This wallet-sized card can’t be used for air travel, but it’s handy for those entering the US by land and sea from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda.  Adults who already have a passport book pay only $20 (the passport renewal fee).  First-time applicants pay $45 for adult cards and $35 for children.  These cards will be valid for 10 years for adults and 5 years for children 15 and under.

I think this is a great option for cruising.  I’d love to have a little card to carry on the islands that acts as proof of my US citizenship instead of either carrying my passport or leaving it in my cabin.  If you don’t mind carrying your passport around, though, you definitely don’t need the card.
